PETEX 2012 Announces Keynote line-up
Global Frontiers, Global Solutions
The PETEX 2012 committee are delighted to announce the keynote line-up for PETEX 2012. Alan Booth of Encounter Oil will join Tony Hayward, CEO of Genel Energy, Glen Cayley, VP Technical of Shell, and Carl Trowell, President of Schlumberger Production Management in officially opening the PETEX technical programme, which runs from 20th-22nd November at Earl’s Court 2, London.
As always the technical committee received an overwhelming number of submissions through the system this year, all of a very high standard, and as a result, the technical committee has been able to develop a very strong programme, and re-introduce a poster session.
The technical programme also includes a ground-breaking plenary session, entitled: “Obtaining a Social License to Operate, a Challenge for the Industry”, which features top speakers from the industry interacting with NGO’s, and will be a special interactive session, encouraging and enabling audience participation. The session features speakers from BP, Global Witness, Tullow and WWF. Technical Committee Chair Ricki Charles says: “As a Committee, we set out to deliver a technical programme that would appeal to all of the PESGB membership, under the theme of “Global Frontiers, Global Solutions”. We wanted the programme to be current and topical, covering a variety of themes ranging from new exploration provinces to new developments in existing basins and new perspectives on unconventional resources. A common thread that unifies all of these themes is technology, and we hope that the programme will facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-fertilisation of ideas that will benefit you and your companies”.
The Exhibition hall this year has broken all previous PETEX records, and as well as the International Pavilion, we also have a Graduate Career Fair and a University Forum, as well as once again welcoming the Petroleum Geoscience Research Collaboration Showcase, which is operating alongside the PETEX programme.
PETEX is well-known for its packed social programme, which as always includes the opening Cocktail Party, the Evening Excursion, the Exploration Manager’s Lunch and a Student lunch on day three, but this year PETEX has introduced a new event for the final day, the Sundowner. Details of all the events, as well as the technical programme and exhibition information can be found on the PETEX website at www.petex.info.
